Elaine Viera

Born in Havana, Cuba. Grew up in Tampa, Florida. Graduated from Hillsborough Community College in 1973 with an Associates in Science/Business Administration. Moved to Miami in 1975. Two daughters, my hobbies are gardening and decorating. I am an animal lover and advocate for animal rights. I have 4 yorkies. I attended Miami Dade Community College in 1983 and obtained a Certificate in Legal Secretary. I also took paralegal studies in 1991/1992 at Miami-Dade College. I have been working in the legal field since 1983.

My favorite saying is “Onward and upwards”. What I love about my work is the level of responsibility that comes with the position. Ultimately you are working under supervision of an attorney, but attorneys typically do not have time to micro-manage their support staff. Being a legal assistant can be stressful and, at times, intense. But, it can be very rewarding. Staying on top of my work alleviates a lot of the stress so above-average organizational skills and a self-starter work eithic go hand-in-hand with a responsible legal assistant.
